Maguwu continues to languish in cells as hearing postponed
Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition
July 07, 2010

Day 34

The bail hearing of Farai Maguwu, Director of Centre for Research and Development (CRD) has been postponed to Friday 09 July 2010. The bail hearing was postponed after the state prosecutor one Murevenhema submitted that he did not have adequate time to go through the records of proceedings since he received them from the Magistrate Court only a day before the High court hearing.

High Court Justice Mawadze Gurainesu dismissed the submissions. However, Gurainesu postponed the bail hearing to Friday citing that he had a tight schedule.

Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition expresses concern over the deliberate ploy by the state to drag its feet in Maguwu's case. The Coalition reiterates that Maguwu's detention is unlawful and the continued denial to access adequate medical examination and treatment is a deprivation of human rights.
