West
A monitor stationed
in Mashonaland West, Zvimba district reported that the red 4X4 vehicle,
whose registration number is unknown, was spotted as different meeting
points deploying plain clothed soldiers and central Intelligence
Organization (CIO) officers believed to be from Chinhoyi. Yesterday
the 5th of July 2010 the soldiers and the CIO officers were intimidating
people at a meeting held at Madzima Primary school. Villagers were
not given a chance to air their views freely. The soldiers were
the ones who were making contributions on "behalf of the people".
The same scenario happened in meetings in Makonde where only selected
people from political parities would make contributions. Members
of the outreach teams have voiced concerns over their own safety
since they are not aware of the ulterior motives of these officers.
However Honourable Mutamisa and honorable Chidhakwa were said to
be looking into the issue.
Matebeleland
North
A total of 115
people attended the meeting at Mpumalanga Business Centre, yesterday
the 5th of July 2010. However, most meetings that were scheduled
for Hwange Urban did not take place, as people did not show up.
Reports from the district are that one of the COPAC teams had to
ask Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) to release its
workers so that they can attend consultation meeting. By end of
day on Monday one COPAC team had dropped holding meetings and resolved
to mobilise for meeting to be held on Saturday the 10th and Sunday
the 11th while another was mobilising for Wednesday 7th and Thursday
the 8th of July 2010. In another incident one Spiwe Mupfawa is threatening
to evict people who make contributions contrary to the ZANU PF views
from council houses. Mupfawa is said to have openly threatened one
teacher at Mabale Business Centre.

At Nyamaruru
Primary School in Shamva district yesterday was the 5th of July
2010, the meeting was well attended with a total of 368 people.
People were reportedly airing views freely and there was a general
balance of viewpoints. There are also reports of a white double
cab that has been spotted dropping off one man believed to be a
CIO at meeting points. The man does not make any contributions but
sits among the crowd, reading a newspaper.
The Coalition
leadership will be approaching COAPC to appraise them on these incidents
and make recommendations on how the outreach can be improved.
