May 31, 2010
The Centre
for Community Development In Zimbabwe will this week hold four (4)
community meetings under the theme, "Let's Debate the Constitution".
The meetings will be held in Chachacha, Shurugwi, Mkoba and Gweru
in the Midlands province. Similar meetings have been held in Masvingo,
Mashonaland East, Mashonaland West and Mashonaland Central provinces.
The objective
of the meetings is to conscientize grassroots people and prepare
for the Parliamentary outreach programme for the new constitution.
CCDZ is urging members of the public to participate and give thier
views on what they want included in the new law. The meetings focus
on the tenets of a democratic Constitution and the following topics
will be covered: Separation of Powers, Terms of Office, Declaration
of Rights, Citizenship, Principles of Democracy and Independent
Commissions.
The meetings
in Gweru, Chachacha, Shurugwi and Mkoba will be addressed by CCDZ
and representatives from our partners Gweru Agenda, Zimbabwe
Civic Education Trust (ZIMCET) and Crisis
