Colliery workers forced not to report for work for two weeks in a month on a half pay basis
Bulawayo Agenda
March 19, 2010

Hwange - Colliery workers have been temporarily forced not to report for work for two weeks in a month on a half pay basis. This is due to the breakdown of the 32-oven coke battery, a month ago. The Hwange Colliery Company Limited (HCCL) Public Relations Manager, Burzil Dube, said that the colliery company is currently undergoing a challenging phase as the coke battery is under intense corrective maintenance with about US$4 million needed for the exercise to be completed within the next two months as a matter of urgency.

Binga - Two poachers have died and one is critically injured after a shoot out erupted last week between them and game rangers after they were found in possession of elephant tasks, at Lusulu in Binga. It is said that one of the poachers died on the spot, another on Wednesday evening and the third one has been admitted at a local hospital. These poachers are said to be a part of the illegal settlers in Lusulu.
