Agenda
February 19, 2010
The Daily Agenda, published from Monday to Friday will provide information
on critical governance and developmental issues. It is our hope
that the information provided will be useful to our constituency
of readership, particularly the leaders at the local level and civil
society practitioners, in informing and shaping their choice of
developmental objectives and initiatives.
Bulawayo
- The Zimbabwe Chamber of Informal Economy Associations
(ZCEIA) has called for the regulation and monitoring of the multi
currency system used in Zimbabwe through economic watchdogs, as
it has resulted in the public utilities charging high rates. They
said that the unaffordable rates demanded by these institutions
have a large bearing on the ability of consumers to pay for services
rendered.
The Zimbabwe
Media commission has finally been formally appointed. In a government
gazette published last Friday, President Mugabe named the NUST
Journalism Departmental Chairperson Nqobile Nyathi as the deputy
chair with the commission to be chaired by former ZBC newscaster
Godfrey Majonga. Media practitioners have welcomed the news although
many have expressed skepticism on its ability to create a free and
democratic space for media in Zimbabwe.
Upcoming
Events
- On the 24th
