Each constitutional outreach team will have a reporting group representing the three unity government parties, with one to serve as primary rapporteur while the other two will verify the reports of public meetings

Zimbabwe's constitutional revision process was back on track Friday following a compromise between the three parties in government and donors on the issue of rapporteurs, which was threatening to derail the process.

Sources in the parliamentary committee responsible for redrafting the constitution said outreach teams will soon be deployed.

The United Nations Development Program assured the unity government today that it would continue to finance the revision process, sources said.

Parliamentary Select Committee Co-Chairman Douglas Mwonzora said each of the 70 outreach teams set to collect public opinion in the coming phase of the exercise will have a three-person reporting group including a representative of the ZANU-PF party of President Robert Mugabe, the Movement for Democratic Change formation of Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, and the MDC grouping of Deputy Prime Minister Arthur Mutambara.

One of the three will be the primary rapporteur, while the other two political party representatives will verify the reports produced, Mwonzora said.
