President Mugabe yesterday appointed eight Resident Ministers and Governors as well as three non-constituency senators ahead of the parliamentary swearing-in ceremony to be held this morning.

Former Bindura mayor Advocate Martin Dinha replaces Cde Ephraim Masawi as Resident Minister for Mashonaland Central Province while former education minister Cde Aeneas Chigwedere takes over from Cde Ray Kaukonde in Mashonaland East Province.

Cde Christopher Mushohwe, the former Minister of Transport and Communications, is now the Resident Minister and Governor for Manicaland Province, succeeding Cde Tinaye Chigudu.

The new Resident Minister and Governor for Mashonaland West Province is Cde Faber Chidarikire, who takes over the reins from Cde Nelson Samkange, the House of Assembly Member-elect for Zvimba West.

Four others — Cde Angeline Masuku (Matabeleland South), Cde Thokozile Mathuthu (Matabeleland North), Cde Cain Mathema (Bulawayo Metropolitan) and Cde Ishemunyoro David Karimanzira (Harare Metropolitan) — retain their posts.

Resident ministers and governors for Midlands and Masvingo provinces are yet to be appointed.

The President also appointed Vice President Wilfred Joseph Msika, former Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Cde Patrick Chinamasa and former Speaker of Parliament Cde John Landa Nkomo as non-constituency senators.
