Plumtree

People, in this western border town, were seen searching all over for the old $1000 notes which they believe will be brought back into the system next week. Rumours started circulating that with effect from next Monday the notes will be in circulation and will be equivalent to Z$10 trillion note (old value). Information reaching Bulawayo Agenda indicates that some outlets having started accepting the notes even though no official confirmation from the Reserve bank has been forthcoming.

Gweru

Rutendo Mawere, a journalist based in Gweru, was yesterday arrested for taking photos of people queuing to buy cooking oil outside a shop in the Gweru. While they were waiting their turn to purchase the scarce commodity, police and military personnel arrived and started beating them up causing commotion that resulted in some of the people losing their places in the queue. Mawere, who continued taking pictures of the unfolding drama, was spotted by police details that apprehended her and took her to the law and order section at Gweru Central police station where she is still detained without any charge being levelled against her.
