Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition

Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition (Crisis Coalition) held an Outreach Meeting at Sadza Growth Point on the 16th of October 2007. This meeting was aimed at enriching the marginalized communities with voter education towards the 2008 elections. The meeting was addressed by two speakers who deliberated on the pertinent issues namely, Mr. P. Ruhanya of the Crisis Coalition and Mr. Ruzvidzo from Zimbabwe United Resident Association (ZURA).

The resolutions that were brought to light were:

• The need for an independent electoral commission to carry out the electoral administrative issues.
• Media should be accessed freely by any candidate who is running for elections.
• Freedom of association and assembly.
• Zimbabwe should aim at electing viable leaders who will address pertinent issues.
• The voters roll should be replaced by the use of National Identity Cards.
• The repeal of repressive laws such as the Interception of Communications Act (ICA), Public Order and Security Act (POSA), Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act and Broadcasting Services Act (BSA) amongst others.

The government should disband the infrastructure of violence such as the youth militia from the Border Gezi Training Camps.
