Nationwide
demonstrations for a People's Constitution
National
Constitutional Assembly (NCA)
November
03, 2005
The
NCA will be staging countrywide demonstrations in push for a people-driven,
democratic constitution and in condemnation of senatorial elections
set for November 26 2005. The demonstrations will be on Saturday,
5 November 2005.
Citizens
of Zimbabwe are urged to participate in these demonstrations which
are a serious protest action against the acute state of bad governance
that has brought untold suffering to the people of Zimbabwe. Considering
security issues attached to the demonstrations, we have only made
public the date of the demonstrations. Members of the public are
advised to keep their eyes and ears open in anticipation of these
redemptive protest actions that will happen in the main centers
of Harare, Bulawayo, Gweru, Mutare and Masvingo.
The NCA considers
the Public Order and Security Act (POSA) dead. Accordingly, no police
clearance has been sought for the staging of the demonstrations.
The police have also not been notified of the demonstrations considering
their illustrious history of denying the people their right to the
freedom of expression.
