Majongwe arrested
Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition

Dear colleagues,

Raymond Majongwe, the Secretary General of the Progressive Teachers' Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) has been arrested by the police today the 3rd of Agust 2004.

Majongwe said he was arrested around 12 pm while addressing students at Mutare Teacher's College and his beeing questioned by the police at Sakubva Police Station.

The Zimbabwean trade unionist said was addressing the students at the invitation of the college authorities where the leadership of the government-aligned Zimbabwe Teachers' Association (Zimta) also took part.
