NCA
barred from exhibiting at Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF)

The National Constitutional Assembly (NCA), was denied the chance
to exhibit at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), being
held in Bulawayo.
Douglas Mwonzora,
the NCA spokesperson said: "Our regional chairperson, Jaison Ndlovu
was told that the NCA could not exhibit because this could provoke
Zanu PF and war veterans who are exhibiting at the Trade Fair."
Mwonzora said:
"I am really surprised by the position taken by the organisers of
the Trade Fair as we have been exhibiting for the past two years."
The NCA has
been at loggerheads with the government over the adoption of a new
constitution.
The NCA, on
12 and 13 February, 2000, successfully led Zimbabweans in rejecting
a Zanu PF sponsored draft constitution.
"The NCA is
not going to be suppressed by the government or anyone else as we
are going to fight for our rights until we win the battle," Mwonzora
said.
He said NCA
was not a political party but a pressure group with a specific agenda
of having a new constitution in Zimbabwe.
"We are going
to take up the matter with the courts because we have been discriminated
against by the organisers of the Trade Fair," said Mwonzora.
Cecilia Bhebhe,
the public relations officer for the ZITF said: "I cannot comment
on that. They are not our exhibitors and I can only comment on organisations
that are exhibiting."
