  • Silence will never breed peace and any violence should be totally condemned
    Zimbabwe Civic Education Trust (ZIMCET)
    February 27, 2002

ZIMCET calls for mass participation in the campaign for peace

Like one pastor asked, ‘If Jesus were to come to Zimbabwe today, what would he do?’, so do we pose the same question to Zimbabwe. We have all seemed to take a back seat and watched while the rest of the country that we all claim to love so much has slowly been consumed by a culture of violence and intimidation. The hate language that is continually being used at political rallies and the mudslinging that characterises our political scene at the moment prove the highest level of intolerance which responsible citizens should not accept. Why do we have to call people of different views our enemies?

If you have remained silent over the issue of violence in the past, make your stand now. We cannot continue begging for peace from the perpetrators of violence. We shall not be silent anymore and whoever is responsible for violence should be exposed and condemned in the strongest of terms. We should all remember that there is life after the Presidential Elections.

Silence is a sign of cowardice and Zimbabweans are not cowards. Let your voice be heard by speaking out against violence on our hotline numbers: 011-758334, 011-758335, 011-615624, 091-266327,023-822144, 023-274805 and
    023-272222.

    Peace shall prevail.
