Inspection
of Voters Rolls: 2002 Presidential Elections
1. REGISTRATION
AS A VOTER
- Are you a voter?
Does your name appear in the Voters Rolls? If not, register now.
- Have you moved
from one place to another since the 2000 Parliamentary Elections? If
so, act now. Ensure that your name appears in the Constituency Voter’s
Roll where you are resident.
2. VOTERS ROLLS
INSPECTION CENTRES
The Registrar General
has deployed teams in your constituency to enable you to check if your
name appears in the Voters’ Rolls.
3. TRANSFERS
People who have
moved from one constituency to another must complete transfer forms
at the Inspection Centres.
4. IDENTIFICATION
DOCUMENTS
All persons coming
forward to inspect Voters’ Rolls at Inspection Centres should bring the
following documents:
- A Zimbabwe national
identity card (metal or waiting pass) with a photograph on it; or
- A valid Zimbabwe
passport showing a person’s national identity number; or
- A Zimbabwe driver’s
licence showing a person’s national identity number with a photograph
on it. A driver’s licence will only be acceptable for inspecting the
Voter’s Roll but not for effecting changes or corrections to the Voter’s
Roll.
Proof of residence
must be produced during registration in the form of:
- In the case of
rural and farm dwellers, confirmation by the village head or farm owner
vouching for the residence status of a voter will suffice.
- In the case of
urban dwellers, the underlisted documents may be acceptable:
- A certificate
of occupation/title deeds, or
- Lodgers permit/card
issued before 19th November 2001 or
- Rates/water statements
in applicant’s name
- Electricity statements
in applicant’s name
- Credit store
statements showing the physical address of the applicant, in a ward.
5. DURATION
OF EXERCISE
Inspection of Voter’s
Rolls will start on the 19th November, 2001 and end on the
9th December at sunset. It should however be noted that after
withdrawal of teams at inspection sites, inspection of Voter’s Rolls
will continue at District and Provincial Offices of the Registrar General’s
Department, until a closing date of rolls for the Presidential Election
is announced.
6. LOCATION
OF INSPECTION CENTRES
Location of Constituency
Inspection Centres will be publicised in Newspapers. Registration officials
will also disseminate information in the locality they will operate
from.
Information on Inspection
Centres is also obtainable at the offices of Provincial Registrars and
District Registrars.
