Youth
Forum commemorates World Youth Day for Democracy
Youth Forum
October 18, 2013
Youth Forum
joins the rest of the world in commemorating the World Youth Day
for Democracy as this is the day when young democracy supporters
celebrate their role in fighting for and strengthening democracy.
This year’s
theme “express, engage and empower” increases the power
of the youth voice to create real and lasting change in the social,
political and economic landscape in their respective communities.
From its conception,
Youth Forum has always considered democracy as a core value of society.
Among our aims, we aspire to promote the democratic participation
of young people in the governance of the country.
It is undeniable
that every citizen dreams to live in a country where equally free
opportunities are not only a vision but a factual reality. In order
to realize these opportunities, there is a need for responsibility
and mutual respect for one another. Democracy offers elements of
freedom, opportunity, responsibility and respect. The ability of
each individual to voice out how they prefer to be governed is the
central principle of democracy.
As Youth Forum
we believe that lasting real political, economic, or social change
can only happen through the concentrated efforts of engaged and
empowered individuals who stand up and speak up for what they believe
in.
The Youth Forum
wishes to recognize courageous efforts of young people across the
world and wishes to encourage them to continue their invaluable
contribution to the public sphere.
