ZOYP director convicted
Zimbabwe Organization For The Youth In Politics (ZOYP)
October 23, 2012

The Zimbabwe Organization For The Youth In Politics (ZOYP) Department of Information would like to inform you that our Director Nkosilathi Emmanuel Moyo has been convicted by the Kwekwe Magistrate Court and sentenced to twelve months in prison or a fine of $500 USD. The other six months was suspended on condition that he does not commit the same crime in the next five years.

He was charged with contravening section 25 of the Public Order and Security Act,whereby he was being accused of conducting a political meeting without notifying the police on 16 November 2012 at Kwekwe Theater in Kwekwe. The meeting was a training workshop for Z.O.Y.P members and a civil society-debriefing meeting co-hosted by Z.O.Y.P and the Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition. He was arrested together with Maureen Gombakomba and Beloved Chiweshe of the Crisis In Zimbabwe Coalition, the other two were released without any charge. Moyo is behind bars whilst the Programs Manager Jasper is trying to put the funds for the fine in order. This is the Zimbabwe we are living in.

Thank you for your solidarity support in our struggle for democracy in Zimbabwe.
