Great Indaba,
a member of National
Association of Youth Organisations (NAYO), hosted an Open Space
Meeting in Mwenezi rural on the 20th of May 2011.The meeting was
focusing on issues affecting children and youth in the community
and was attended by four schools from the district.
The meeting
was attended by 120 secondary school children and was also graced
by Indaba partners such Plan
International, Red Cross, Regai Dzive Shiri, World
Vision, Mwenezi Rural Council, Mwenezi Development Center and
a representative from Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture.
Great Indaba is having programs with its sister organisation ZICHISO
focusing on youth development, scholarship programs, rights and
peace programs and livelihood programs that will see the children
and youth equipped both socially and economically. The meeting was
facilitated by Mr Absolom Mandizvidza, a certified trainer and the
coordinator of Sheep Gate International, a member of NAYO.
The participants prioritised the following:
- Food
- Education
- School related
resources
- Rights and
Peace building information
- HIV &
AIDS workshops
- Livelihoods
projects
- Career guidance
and skill training
