Youth Forum board chairperson and five others arrested Madock Chivasa the Youth Forum Board Chairperson and National Constitutional Assembly spokesperson was arrested last evening alongside 5 other activists. He is being accused of inciting violence as he gave his presentation to more than 300 youths who had attended the Youth Forum public meeting dubbed ' The role of youths in the transitional period vis-à-vis National healing, peace building and conflict transformation', held at Charles Austin Theatre hall. Asked what exactly he said which warrants arrest, the police details who executed the arrest insisted that he was going to be notified at the police camp. This prompted youths to demand the immediate emancipation of Chivasa culminating to running battles with the police. Subsequently five youths from Masvingo, whose names are yet to be established were arrested whilst several others were assaulted. There was chaos outside the hall as people demanded the release of Madock Chivasa and the other five, even the passer-bys were caught in the crossfire. People only dispersed from the scene when tear smoke canisters were fired into the air. The police also confiscated the Youth Forum musical CDs and other advocacy material.
