Another show of madness In a clear show of disrespect to the ongoing SADC talks and the spirit of tolerance, drunken Zanu PF Congress delegates who were booked at Quality International Hotel disrupted a public meeting held at the same venue by the Youth Agenda Trust. Amongst them were senior leaders of the government sponsored Zimbabwe Youth Council, the Zanu PF youth league and some state security agents. However, their disruptions came rather late as the message had already been put across as they only heightened their confusion at the end of the meeting. They thought they could easily erase the sad and bitter memories of 2007 by continuously interjecting the speakers but it only worked to show the levels of desperation and paranoia within their institutions. Youth Agenda Trust would like to remind these misguided lumpen youths that they should put the interests of the people of Zimbabwe ahead of the interests of their principals because when judgement day comes, the people will judge them harshly and ruthlessly. Youth Agenda Trust convened a public meeting at Quality International Hotel on the 13th of December 2007, under the theme; "2007 in Retrospect and Opportunities for 2008". The main purpose of the meeting was to create a platform for young people to reflect on the eco-socio-political developments in Zimbabwe in the year 2007 as well as exploring the resultant opportunities which could arise for 2008. The meeting attracted speakers from various sectors within the youth movement who also managed to share their experiences and highlighted what they viewed as the most outstanding developments in 2007 and the strategies for 2008. The speakers were Mzwandile Ndhlovu (NYDT), Lawrence Mashungu (SCMZ), Wellington Zindove (Youth Forum), Maureen Kademaunga (Gender Activist and ZINASU) and Beloved Chiweshe (ZINASU). There was a general consensus from all speakers that a lot of madness had happened with impunity in the year 2007 and that we had entered the final phase of the struggle, and as such young people should emerge and take full responsibility of the future of Zimbabwe. A full publication on "2007 in Retrospect and Opportunities for 2008. A view from the young people of Zimbabwe." will be produced at the end of the year and it will also include the perceptions of youths from various communities across the country including farming and rural communities.
