"From sugar daddies you get more than what you want, children, money and HIV/AIDS."

These are the lyrics of eight year old Lyvette Kambuma from her song Sugar Daddy.

Lyvette is a student at Dudley Hall Primary School. Her song is an appeal for old men to give young girls a chance to live their lives and enjoy their youth. It tells them to leave them alone ccause all they do is use them and leave them with the disease.

The song also asks the parents on how they feel when they watch their children die of AIDS. Zimbabwe is one of the many countries in Africa that have been severely affected by the HIV/AIDS scourge. The increase in HIV/AIDS issues are due to a number of factors which are a combination of both socio and economic problems.

Some men have sex with young children because of the myth that if you are HIV positive and you sleep with a virgin, the AIDS will go away.

According to Plan International, about 25 percent of people between the ages of 25 and 45 are infected with HIV. It further estimates that 2000 people in Zimbabwe die weekly due to AIDS related illnesses.
