ZANU
PF activists attempt to block Action Team meeting
Habakkuk
Trust
September 09, 2013
In a desperate
futile attempt to derail development and democracy in Gwanda Ward
2 community some ZANU PF activists on the 29th of August 2013 attempted
to stop a Habakkuk Trust Community Advocacy Action Team consensus
building meeting with the newly elected ward Councillor. The meeting
that was held at Ward 2 centre nearly came to an abrupt end when
some of the invited stakeholders who are aligned to the loosing
ZANU PF Councillor in the ward demanded that the meeting not proceed
‘as the newly elected MDC-T Councillor Mr Jerot Nyathi is
not yet official is not yet sworn in “
The Habakkuk
Trust Programmes Manager Mrs Belinda Ncube, The Action Team convenors
for Datata and Dambashoko Mr Dickson Dube and Seneliso Nesu (respectively)
saved the day after explaining in detail the importance of engaging
the Councillor elect at this time ‘when Council programmes
are not yet hectic and also to arm him with necessary issues he
should take to council’.
Other Action
Team members in the meeting also cautioned the ZANU PF activists
to make decisions ‘with the ward and the people at heart’
not with a ‘painful losing mind’.
The meeting
eventually progressed smoothly.
