With Love Foundation
organised a Zim Clean-up day on the 1st of December 2012. This has
been an ongoing project that is done monthly with an aim of creating
awareness to the public about the importance of keeping the environment
clean. The organisation intends to create a culture of environmental
responsibility through participation of local communities. We managed
to mobilize the following stakeholders for the cleaning event With
Love Foundation, ABC Auction, Sables Rugby Team, Caps United and
local volunteers.
Activities
The day began with volunteers
meeting up at corner Cripps and Seke road at 9am. With Love Programme
Coordinator (Lynnette Mahlaba) welcomed everyone and gave an introduction
of the events for the day. There were a total of 67 people that
included stakeholders like the Sables and Caps United who attended
the event and each of them were given gloves and bins.
The mayor ended the day
with a speech at Town House. There he thanked all the different
organisations for attending and urged us to continue with the good
work. The Mayor is in support of such initiatives as they help concientise
the public of the problem caused by not putting litter in the bins.
With Love as an organisation
will eventually put up bins throughout the City as a means to provide
the necessary solution to litter on the streets.
