Civil Society

Constitutional Reform Coordination Mechanism (CSCMCR), will hold
a Civil Society Leaders Conference on the 18th and 19th of October
in Harare.
The conference
which is jointly convened by NANGO

set to be held form 21st to the 23rd of October 2012 in Harare.
The conference
will see the participation of 300 delegates to be drawn from different
sectors of the Civil Society in the country. It will be held around
the different thematic clusters that relate to the constitution
- women, labour, young people, media , differently abled, residents,
human rights, social and economic justice, arts and culture, students,
faith based, health, HIV and AIDS and children's rights. All
these sectoral interest groups will be expected to workshop around
their themes and come up with recommendations and positions around
the draft constitution for input to the 2nd All Stakeholders Conference.
Amongst other
key objectives, the conference will give a general background on
the journey CSOs have travelled so far with regards to the constitution
making process, and locating the remainder of the process in
a strategic political context. It will also seek to do a comparative
engagement and analyses of other regional perspectives and experiences
on constitution making. Specifically learning from the Zambian and
Kenyan experience and engage on a global analysis of the draft constitution.
