Habakkuk advocacy peace lecture a success
Habakkuk Trust

September 21, 2012

Today Habakkuk Trust held a successful advocacy peace lecture that was officially opened by the Minister of National Healing, Reconciliation and Reintegration Honorable Moses Mzila Ndlovu, facilitated by Mr. Dumisani Ngwenya the Director of Grace to Heal, and attended by 43 youths from six political parties, representatives of civic groups and the media.

Speaking during the peace lecture Mr. Ngwenya expressed the need for political parties in Zimbabwe to sincerely uphold the values and ideals of peace. His sentiments were echoed by Honorable Mzila who emphasized that 'there is no reason to resort to violence in the post independence Zimbabwe as doing so reneges the reason why people fought in the liberation struggle'.

The ZANU PF secretary for economic affairs Mr. Fundisani Dewa also implored young people to uphold peace saying that people may differ in political opinion but that should not be the basis for them resorting to violence because everyone wants peace in Zimbabwe.

The Habakkuk Trust Advocacy Peace Lecture, though done to commemorate the International Peace Day, is one of the Habakkuk Trust ongoing peace initiatives that are aimed at transforming Zimbabwe.
