Civil

Association of Non-Governmental Organisations in Zimbabwe (NANGO)
November, 22, 2011
Civil society organisations in Matabeleland under NANGO's
Western Region met in Bulawayo and came up with the following demands
from COPAC:
We demand that;
COPAC publicizes
the summary findings of the District and Provincial specific outreach
meetings - We are convinced that this will commit COPAC to explain
permissible constitutional issues and explanations why certain specific
issues could not be incorporated to the members of the public.
There should
be clarity in terms of the Referendum process and the impact of
the result of the Referendum on the future of Zimbabwe. We believe
that people of Zimbabwe should be adequately informed about all
the processes and stages of the Constitution
making process. We implore the importance of COPAC to fully
explaining how the referendum will be executed as well as the implications
of the result of the referendum. This means giving public information
on what will happen in the case of a YES Vote or in case of a NO
vote.
The NANGO
Western Region constitutes of the provinces of Bulawayo, Matabeleland
North and South.
