NCA
mourns Joseph Kazisi, mobiliser par excellence
National Constitutional Assembly (NCA)
August
02, 2010
It is with great grief
that we inform you of the passing on of the NCA Field Officer for
Mashonaland Central, Joseph Kazisi.
Joseph was born in 1971
at Mavuradona, Mount Darwin, Mashonaland Central, and died on the
1st of August 2010 after a short illness at Howard Mission Hospital.
Cde Joseph Kazisi was
affectionately known to his comrades as 'Dread Joe.'
We remember him as a fearless, dedicated cadre who fought immensely
in the struggle for a new people drive constitution. He joined the
NCA in 2001 as an ordinary member of the youth wing. He rose through
the ranks becoming the Mashonaland Central Youth Chairperson the
same year.
Operating in the highly
volatile and ZANU PF infested Mashonaland Central Province, a place
with a history of political violence mainly targeted at those opposing
ZANU PF, Dread Joe, was not spared by ZANU PF's brutality.
His political career was marred by arrests, detentions and beatings.
A natural mobiliser,
Dread was very much instrumental in mobilizing and organizing the
young people in and around the province, working closely with MDC
youths in the struggle for a new people driven constitution, good
governance and a democratic Zimbabwe.
After effectively serving
the structures for five years, Dread Joe joined the NCA secretariat
in 2006 as a logistics officer at Bumbiro House and later on was
appointed Field Officer for Mashonaland Provinces, a position he
held until the time of his death.
We have lost a gallant,
selfless, dedicated activist whose shoes would be difficult to fill.
He is survived by his
wife and several children, Kazisi will be buried tomorrow 3 August
2010 at Glendale Cemetery in Glendale.
Go well great mobiliser.
Go well great comrade. Go well cadre of our movement.
