Zimbabweans,
Swazis in freedom march at WSF
Students Solidarity Trust
January 23, 2007
Zimbabwe
and Swaziland have hogged the limelight for all the wrong reasons
at the on-going World Social Forum.
Activists
from Zimbabwe and Swaziland today held a solidarity march at the
Moi National Sports Stadium, in Kasarani - the venue of the World
Social Forum in Nairobi. Swaziland is the only remaining absolute
momarch in Southern Africa, and like Zimbabwe, the mountain kingdom
is a dictorship
In
a solidarity speech, Hopewell Gumbo from the Zimbabwe Social Forum,
held that Robert Mugabe is one the remaining dogs of imperialism
in Southern African, and as such, his neo-liberal inclinations have
to be exposed and resited at all costs.
There
were solidarity speeches by activists from South Africa, Kenya and
Ghana.
Zimbabwe's
social movements and CSOs are holding marches everyday at 4.30 pm,
in an effort to raise awareness on the appaling state of human rights
in Zimbabwe and the tyrannical rule of Robert Mugabe.
