Describe
yourself in five words
Patient. Kind. Focussed. Helpful and principled.
What's
the best piece of advice you've ever received?
Do what you like. And . . . never worry about claiming credit. You
know what you've done. God knows what you've done, and
that's all that matters. And I think that brings a lot of
peace.
What's
the most ridiculous thing you've ever done?
I'm thinking about that? Hmmm, ridiculous, ridiculous . .
. well, once I got home very late. I was so stressed, in the dark
that I actually left the car door open the entire night, and it
wasn't until the next morning when somebody thought someone
had broken into the car, that I realised I was the one who had left
it open (laughs). Wide open! I don't mean a bit! The door
was fully open, the whole night (laughs again).
What
is your most treasured possession?
My books.
What
do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
Being not able to actualise who you are and what you want to be.
Do you
have any strange hobbies?
No.
What
do you dislike most about your appearance?
I don't know. I've never thought about it. I don't
spend quite a lot of time looking at myself, you see. So, I just
use the mirror to get ready to go.
What
is your greatest extravagance?
Probably shoes.
What
is your greatest fear?
That I might not live to see my children be the best of all that
they can be.
What
have you got in your pockets right now?
Nothing.
What
is your favourite journey?
I took a train journey from Italy to Denmark and that was one of
the most pleasurable things I've ever done.
Who
are your heroes in real life?
My mum, she's going on 87. My daughter, she's 31.
When
and where were you happiest?
I'm happy on trains. I cannot tell you why. I'm happy
when I'm in the company of lots of women.
What
is your biggest vice?
Coffee, maybe.
What
were you like at school?
Too studious. I should have played more.
What
are you doing next?
Probably going to go see if that bead shop is still open. I like
those lovely beads you have on. (Laughs).
