Welcome
to the 10th anniversary of the International Images Film Festival
for Women, the biggest and best ever yet professional women's film
festival South of the Sahara. Celebrating this tenth event under
the theme Women With Goals is like a dream come true, from imaging
women to fighting women, enriching women, transforming women, we
finally celebrate stories of visionary women who have set and achieved
their goals! As IIFF, we also hope to carry on the vision that Tsitsi
Dangarembga has created and left for us!
The festival, provided
free to schools, colleges and universities, aims to transform cinema
experience into something interactive and engaging, connecting young
minds and educators through the power of moving image.
From shorts to documentary
and feature films to meet the needs and tastes of the broad film
going audience, IIFF exposes viewers to films that move, alarm,
amuse, surprise and teach things they have never considered before.
IIFF also stimulates conversation and encourages film enthusiasts
to share their thoughts and debate meaning which contributes to
people's social awareness and development. Screenings will be held
at the Gallery Delta, Mannenberg, Ster Kinekor (Eastgate) and the
Zimbabwe German Society where INPUT will take place. For the first
time, IIFF shall travel to Binga with a few films from December
5 to 7 and will screen them at the Binga Stadium.
We are delighted to be
working with new partners and organizations than ever before. This
year launches two new sections to the festival, The New Man and
Shasha/ Ingcitshi. The New Man recognizes the need to promote narratives
that feature men in positive roles as a way of creating better places
and spaces for Women. You will notice that each screening will begin
with jingles by African Fathers Initiatives. Shasha/ Igcitshi is
a platform to screen our own locally produced films. Catch this
program at the Mannenberg! In attendance will be filmmakers and
festival directors from Namibia, Poland, United Kingdom and the
United States of America.
Finally, to all our friends,
well wishers and supporters too numerous to mention, thank you very
much. Special thanks go to our major sponsors CAFOD, Culture Fund
supported by SIDA, UNWomen Gender Support Programme for the Ndichirimupenyu
Awards. Partnerships with the National Gallery of Zimbabwe, National
Arts Council of Zimbabwe (Harare), Zimbabwe German Society, Pamberi
Trust, cannot go unmentioned. WFOZ Team, your support is greatly
appreciated! To our audiences, thank you very much for loving and
supporting IIFF.
