National Arts Council threatens artist's life as police
stop Confessor performance
Vhitori
Entertainment
June
29, 2011
The
play Confessor by Vhitori Entertainment which premiered at Anglican
Cathedral Hall on Monday 27 June 2011 was forced to stop its run
on Tuesday 28 June by the Zimbabwe Republic Police and National
Arts Council (N.A.C).
Riot Police
accompanied by N.A.C official acting on instruction from one deadly
intelligence agent Nicolas Moyo who masquerades as deputy director
of Arts Council arrived at the Hall fully armed prepared to deal
with six innocent actors and its producer Silvanos Mudzvova. They
faced no resistance from the cast as information had already been
leaked from insiders at Arts Council that police were coming.
The animalistic
intelligence officer Moyo was annoyed on Tuesday morning when he
learnt that Vhitori used Hon Obert Chaurura Gutu as its guest of
honor during the opening night of the play. He screamed at the Arts
Council offices that opposition Ministers are being used at art
events instead of those from the ruling party. He swore and threatened
to fix Vhitori mainly Silvanos Mudzvova with unspecified action.
The source at Arts Council was shocked by this and decided to inform
Mudzvova.
In order for
him to satisfy his personal ego, Moyo used a silly reason and lied
to police that the play was being stopped because Vhitori is not
registered with Arts Council. The regulations and Act of Arts Council
is very clear that promotional companies and associations should
register.
It should be
noted that Vhitori Entertainment is not promoting any artist but
its just producing its own show written and produced internally.
Mudzvova argues that how can he be a promoter of his own work.
Also note that
the Copyright and Entertainment Act clearly states that any artist
is free to perform his/her art anywhere without seeking permission
from anyone (note anyone). The law is quite clear.
Mudzvova is
now leaving in fear of Moyo's statements and threats. He said,
"I am concerned that when guardians and custodians of arts
become oppressors of those expressing their art what will the army
and police do then. It is shocking that the Arts Council is full
of militia and mafia employees who masquerade as artists during
the day and turn to vampires during the night."
Moyo started
his hatrage for Vhitori in 2007 when he caused the arrest of the
Final Push crew at Theatre in the Park. He continued and instructed
a well known C.I.O Manicaland Arts Council representative called
Ruswa that Vhitori actors should be arrested once they set foot
in Mutare and surely it happened. In Bulawayo he called Law and
Order Chief Superintendent Wasara and Mudzvova was abducted and
dumped outside Bulawayo.
Today it is
shocking that Moyo with such a history still wants Mudzvova harmed,
maimed or killed and he will be satisfied then going home to sleep
with his wife peacefully. Despite the fear we have at the moment
we will not rest or stop the play until the nation of Zimbabwe is
healed. Our work on human rights, democracy and governance will
continue, Vhitori will reach all corners of the country despite
what detractors and perpetrators of violence like Moyo and his bunch
of idiots at Arts Council think.
It is high time
a spade is called by its name and Vhitori will launch a strong complain
to stop any corporate funding to Arts Council starting with Delta.
Violators and suppressers of human rights should not be supported.
Support our campaign "Stop Delta Stop" on Facebook as
we push for isolation of National Arts Council of Zimbabwe.
It is shocking
that Nicolas Moyo once received the J.F Kennedy Award and went to
United States right in front of our noses when we should have just
informed the United States of who really he is and what treat he
is to the art industry.
We will expose
all evil and secret dealings at Arts Council starting now.
