Peddy
Muvhimwa - Sculptor: Stone
Year of birth: 16 September 1972
Cell Phone Number: +263-774-467213 or +263-734-062781
Sculpting is
a family business for Peddy and her husband. In 1994 he started
to teach her the craft as well as the business-side of it. Today,
both are skilled artisans who sell their sculptures at different
craft markets in Harare. Peddy enjoys being part of a husband-and-wife
team because she has someone to share work ideas and challenges
with. Together, they are also able to pursue a common vision for
their business and their family.

Maria
Musekiwa - Vendor: Various Crafts
Cell Phone Number: +263-772-289980
Maria suggests
that she does not have any creative abilities. She says she has
tried to learn a craft but without much success. Her brother, on
the other hand, is multitalented and knows how to sculpt in stone
and paper mache, dye batiks and paint in acrylics. Maria sells his
products at the craft market in Newlands and she acknowledges that
this is where her skills lie. Having started vending in 2000 she
has now developed into an expert salesperson. The partnership with
her brother works well as they complement each other. Through their
business partnership Maria has been able to fend for herself and
her child whom she is raising as a single parent.

Emmanuel
Karuweni - Sculptor: Metal
Year of birth: 1966
Email Address: emmanuelcreations@yahoo.com
Cell Phone Number: + 263-712-732622
Emmanuel is
a qualified welder who used to freelance in the industrial areas
of Harare before he turned his attention to sculpting. In addition
to being able to express his hidden creativity, Emmanuel also found
that he earned a better living as a sculptor. The business acumen
he gained in his previous work allowed him to quickly develop relationships
with reliable suppliers, to establish sound financial systems and
to develop a stable client base. There is always room for improvement
and Emmanuel believes that with access to adequate financing he
can achieve much more. He looks forward to the day when the prevailing
conditions in the country improve so that he can take his craft
business to greater heights.
