yourself in five words?
Alive, fun, happy, smiling, Zimbabwean.
the best piece of advice you've ever received?
There is no day but today; live for right now.
the most ridiculous thing you've ever done?
The most ridiculous thing I have ever done is to get dressed
up as a stripper for my friend's bachelor party. It was supposed
to be a joke and it was funnier than I expected.
is your most treasured possession?
My garden. I love my garden.
do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
When you are self loathing. When you just feel so sad for
have any strange hobbies?
I like to play instruments but I can't play any of
them! I have two pianos, two guitars, a flute, a trumpet and a violin.
I can't play any music. I have been rehearsing the same songs
since 2003 and every one who hears me playing asks me to stop.
do you dislike most about your appearance?
My tummy. I wish I had a flat tummy then I would rip my
shirt open in public and the wind would blow it up all the time.
is your greatest extravagance?
Food. I spend a lot of money on food.
have you got in your fridge?
I always have red meat - I love red meat. A bottle of nice
wine because you never know when someone is going to come over.
And milk is always in my fridge.
is your greatest fear?
Falling. I hate falling. I don't want to ever fall
over. I don't go anywhere high because I might fall. I like
to be on the ground, feet on the floor.
have you got in your pockets right now?
House keys; I don't go anywhere without my keys.
is your favourite journey?
Johannesburg to Harare because I'm coming home.
are your heroes in real life?
My family; all the generations. I think they have done
amazing things and they inspire me more than other people.
and where were you happiest?
I am happy right now. I am unbelievable happy. I am home
and I am in my home. I tell you, when you go away from home there
is nothing like going back home.
your biggest vice?
Food, partying and not going to the gym.
were you like at school?
I was very quiet and studious and I was very, very sensible,
very under control. I did nothing naughty. I was very famous for
being the non-naughty boy and so in order to be naughty on the last
day of school I smoked a cigarette in the prefects study. When the
prefects came in and found me there, they were like; who's
smoking and I said not me. They said ok, they just believed it because
I was so good.
are you doing next?
I am going to work on a festival called The Speech and
Drama Festival. You get to do poems and little plays and we bring
in an adjudicator who gives out certificates. I am trying to get
as many people as possible to do drama. Having a drama club is not
enough. We need drama all the time in our lives.
