Describe
yourself in five words?
Sensitive, Temperamental, Introspective, a Perfectionist
What's
the best piece of advice you've ever received?
Don't ever think that everyone will like you - for years,
I tried that until I realised that it was impossible, no matter
how candy sweet I was.
What's
the most ridiculous thing you've ever done?
Adopting a cockroach as a pet! I was about ten years old though.
What
is your most treasured possession?
My laptop - my whole writing life is on it.
What
do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?
When you no longer want to live.
What
do you dislike most about your appearance?
My crooked teeth, and on a bad day, my fat thighs and hips.
What
is your greatest extravagance?
Sleep, if you can call it an extravagance - I indulge myself in
it like gold.
What
have you got in your fridge?
Bacon, eggplant, mushroom, leeks, tomato paste, gherkins.
What
is your greatest fear?
That I would die tomorrow and not forgive people who needed forgiving
as well as repent of my many sins.
What
have you got in your pockets right now?
A pair of earrings, a pen and a flash disk.
What
is your favourite journey?
Driving under the canopy of jacarandas (especially in spring
bloom) along Leopold Takawira Avenue, just before Avondale shops
in Harare.
... and
the journey into my imagination
Who
are your heroes in real life?
I don't have heroes - they sound too much like superman for me:
I have influences and mostly, they are not set. People and places
have an effect over me at different times in my life.
When
and where were you happiest?
As a little girl when I fell off my tricycle and my mum ran to me;
carried me indoors, wiped my tears, dressed my wounds with gv and
put to me bed, sitting with me until I fell asleep. Pure love.
What's
your biggest vice?
Novels - I am addicted to buying them. Facebook is a close second.
What
were you like at school?
Timid and self-conscious.
What
are you doing next?
Finally writing my novel.
