You came Dressed
in a radical costume
handed With nothing,
but our black skins
Naked and hungry
itch from the ravages of Mother Nature.
rains, wind, the heat and the cold.
and hungry we still stand
Yet in a coma we remain, groaning.
Groaning from the pains of your operation
Caught up in this Nagasaki
We are bitter, angry and hurt
Prisoners in our own country
Like mice we stand trapped
How could you operate,
without taking an x-ray?
To give you a picture
Of how to treat us, the victims.
We still stand,

is a student at Nyamhunga School, an affiliate member of BWAZ. Learners
willing to be published should send their manuscripts to The Editor,
BWAZ, Box 4209, Harare. Schools willing to affiliate to BWAZ should
send applications to the same address.
BWAZ was formed in 1990 through the initiative of Tsotso magazine.
Since its formation, the writers' organization now boasts of 24
branches and 64 writers clubs countrywide. A branch is made up of
a minimum of 15 members willing to write. BWAZ provides a platform
where the youths, especially those marginalized from mainstream
society give expression to their life experiences through writing.
Our professionally run programmes mentally equip the youths with
the capacity to metabolise the political, social and economic conditions
prevalent in present day Zimbabwe, critically assess and evaluate
issues, and reflect them back to the community through writing.
Membership is open to all young Zimbabwean willing to write.
