To
me the world doesn't see
Shingirai
Pensado, Zimbabwe
Extracted from the magazine of the National Association of Societies
for the Care of the Handicapped (NASCOH) – January 2005
I am like ever a woman you see
Fit and strong in mind
Always
scratching my head like scraping a pot of porridge
To find
new ideas and memories of the past
The World always
shuns me
When I
try raise a point
It’s like
I’m cutting meat with a blunt knife
Everyone
turns a deaf ear
My heart always
pumps
There is no day life is dull
I see black night everywhere
Life to
me is constant
I am beautiful
as a nut
But who
can see my beauty.
When I’m
covered by a shell?
Who will
break the shell for me?
I am longing
to see the sun
I’ve been
mature for ages
I’m smooth
as an olive
As bright
as glowing candle.
